Dr. Cristal Chanelle Truscott is an artist, scholar, educator, dialogue facilitator and founder of Progress Theatre (PT). Cristal holds a BA in Theatre with a minor in Africana Studies from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at the Experimental Theatre Wing. She completed her MA and PhD with NYU’s Department of Performance Studies with a research focus on representations of spiritual diversity in African American Theatre before 1950. Cristal is Assistant Professor and Interim Department Head of Music & Theatre at Prairie View A&M University where she teaches “SoulWork: Emotional Availability,” the acting method she developed based on African American performance traditions and aesthetics.
Ameer Tariq McMillan is a 22 year old graduating senior at Prairie View A&M University from Missouri City, Texas. He is currently a chemical engineering major with aspirations to work for the City of Houston in the Public Works & Engineering Department while pursuing a non thesis Masters of Science in Chemical Engineering. Here on campus Mr. McMillan currently serves as the President of the Eta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
