Baiyina W. Muhammad is an Associate Professor of History at North Carolina Central University.  She received her B.A.S. in African Diaspora Studies from Bennett College for Women. During her tenure at Bennett, she studied abroad at the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Kumasi, Ghana-West Africa. She earned her M.A. in History from North Carolina Central University; and her Ph.D. in History from Morgan State University. Dr. Muhammad’s research interests and publications include African culture and identity within the African Diaspora and the Black press. Her current research is an examination of Black Muslim women’s activism among members of the Warith D. Mohammed (WDM) community.

Dwayne T. Brandon is a North Carolina native. He has a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and North Carolina Central University, respectively. Dwayne has also earned a Ph.D. in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University. Dr. Brandon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at North Carolina Central University. His research examines the relationship between psycho-social factors, health outcomes and health behaviors among African American adults.
