JUNE 2024 HIGHLIGHTS!

June has been an eventful month, and I’m thrilled to share some highlights with you!

We held three To Know One Another gatherings at the Queens Museum, where we discussed the works in the exhibition and shared personal stories about our lives and backgrounds. It was a wonderful experience connecting with so many of you. TKOA will be back on July 27th when we’ll be joined by Sijo Abdul Mutakabbir, founder and director of the SWAM Academy of Modern Martial Arts.

On Juneteenth, I had the honor of sharing As the Veil Turn‘s Alberta Sabree’s inspiring story of self-determination and courage which you can read on my blog.

As part of my residency at the Queens Museum, I participated in a special event alongside my fellow artists Cameron A. Granger and Catalina Schliebener Muñoz. We explored our studio practices and exhibition-making processes, offering a behind-the-scenes look at our work over the past two years. We’re looking forward to hosting this event again so keep an eye out!

I celebrated Eid AlAdha with you by launching my open edition prints, making it easier for you to bring a piece of my art into your home. The available collection of fine art open edition prints includes 3 paintings from my Fitra series, which I have developed over the course of my fellowship at Queens Museum into large scale oil paintings. You can see the new paintings in my solo show Close to Home at Queens Museum until January 2025.
